Helpful Tips for Dial-up Downloading

If you are using a Dial-up connection, you have probably already discovered that the MP3 files are not playing for you when you click on them. This is because the audio files have been encoded at a higher quality (96kbps) and they greatly exceed the acceptable rate for Dialup connections. However, there is a way you can obtain and play these files.
Basically, you need to first download and save the MP3 files to your PC. Then you can play them back anytime you want. The "manual" way to do his is by Right-clicking on "Download MP3" and then select "Save-Target-As...". This will let you actually download and save the MP3s to your PC. The drawback is that each MP3 file is roughly 18Mb in size. You would probably want to start this download process before going to bed, OR you could use some FREE software to help you with this task.
Instead of doing the download manually as I mentioned above, you can use a free and helpful program called "Juice". You can download it from:

juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/index.php

Once you have downloaded and installed the Juice program, you can install any Podcast URLs ("feeds") so that new posts will be downloaded without you having to babysit your PC. When you come back to your PC, the MP3 files have been downloaded and are playable and/or ready to be transported onto your portable MP3 player. To add my "Feed" to your Juice software, open the Juice program and click on the Green icon with the little white "+" OR click on "Tools" and then "Add a Feed". Add this URL to the pop-up window: (Cut-n-paste is recommended)

http://feeds.feedburner.com/BanjonutsBluegrassBlog

You will see that the "Banjonut's Bluegrass Blog" has been added to your Subscriptions. Just highlight that title and in the window below you will see the available Podcasts which you may or may not want to download. If you DO want to download any of them, put a check mark in the box(es) and then click on the Blue icon with the little 'down-arrow' in it. The downloading will begin.

NOTE: Before clicking on the Blue icon to start the downloading, you may first want to Remove all other Feeds. To remove a Feed, just highlight it and click on the Red icon. This way, your downloading will be limited to only the Feeds that you have listed...the ones you really want.
